JTET 2026 is being conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions at the Primary Level, covering Classes 1 to 5, and Upper Primary Level, covering Classes 6 to 8, in schools across Jharkhand.

According to the schedule announced by the Jharkhand Academic Council, the written examination will be held on June 14, 2026. The council had released the notification on March 28, 2026, and the online application process began on April 21, 2026. The registration deadline was later extended, giving candidates additional time to complete the application formalities.

JTET 2026 Is a Qualifying Examination

The Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test is a state-level eligibility examination. JAC has clarified that qualifying in JTET does not guarantee direct appointment to teaching posts. The examination only certifies the eligibility of candidates for teacher recruitment processes, subject to the recruitment rules and vacancies notified by the competent authorities.

The test will be conducted in offline mode using OMR sheets. Candidates are advised to carefully review the eligibility criteria, application fee structure, examination pattern, and qualifying marks before submitting the application form.
