Haryana Plans Major Skill Development Overhaul with AI, Green Technology and Future-Ready ITI Training

Haryana is preparing a future-focused skilling roadmap covering AI, green technologies, advanced manufacturing, digital training, ITI modernisation and workforce upskilling to meet emerging industry demand.
Haryana Pushes Future-Ready Skilling Roadmap with AI, Green Technology and Digital Training
Chandigarh, May 23, 2026: Haryana is preparing a major roadmap to reshape its vocational training and skill development ecosystem, with a strong focus on Artificial Intelligence, green technologies, advanced manufacturing, renewable energy and digital skilling.
The initiative is aimed at aligning the state’s workforce with future industry requirements and strengthening Haryana’s position as an employment-ready and industry-responsive state.
The proposed reforms were reviewed by Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi during a meeting of the Skill Development and Industrial Training Department. The state government is planning to modernise Industrial Training Institutes, introduce courses in emerging technologies, and expand industry-linked training models in line with the national vision of Viksit Bharat.
Focus on AI, Green Jobs and Advanced Manufacturing
As industries rapidly adopt automation, clean energy solutions, smart manufacturing and digital technologies, Haryana is working to ensure that its youth and workers are trained for the next phase of employment.
The state’s proposed skilling roadmap will focus on new-age sectors such as:
  1. Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies
  2. Green technologies and renewable energy
  3. Advanced manufacturing
  4. Digital skills and workplace technology
  5. Industry-linked vocational training
  6. Soft skills and IT literacy
The government is also looking at expanding skill programmes in renewable energy and advanced manufacturing, two areas that are expected to create significant employment opportunities in the coming years.
ITI Modernisation at the Centre of Reform
Industrial Training Institutes are expected to play a central role in Haryana’s future skilling strategy. The state plans to upgrade ITIs with modern courses, improved training infrastructure, and closer linkage with industry demand.
The objective is to make vocational training more relevant for students, job seekers and working professionals by introducing courses that match the needs of future industries.
With rapid technological change affecting traditional jobs, the modernisation of ITIs is expected to help trainees gain practical skills in high-demand sectors and improve their employability.
Government Employees to Receive Digital Upskilling
Alongside youth skilling, Haryana is also planning large-scale capacity-building programmes for government employees to improve digital readiness and workplace efficiency.
More than 7,000 contractual workers deployed through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam have already been trained in soft skills and IT literacy through the Haryana Skill Development Mission, in collaboration with Haryana Knowledge Corporation Limited.
The state government now plans to extend similar training programmes to Group C and Group D employees, including drivers and peons, across districts.
This move reflects the growing need for digital literacy not only among students and job seekers but also within the public administration system.
Skill-Gap Study Expected by July
To better understand future employment trends and industry requirements, Haryana has commissioned a comprehensive skill-gap study, which is expected to be completed by July.
The study will focus on identifying emerging job roles, sector-wise skill requirements, technology-driven employment trends and gaps in the existing training ecosystem.
The findings are likely to guide the state’s future training policies, curriculum updates and industry partnership models.
Industry-Linked Training to Improve Employability
One of the key priorities of the proposed roadmap is to strengthen industry-linked skill development. By aligning training programmes with real labour market demand, Haryana aims to improve placement outcomes and make vocational education more responsive.
The state’s focus on AI, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing and digital skills indicates a shift from conventional training models to future-ready, technology-oriented skilling.
This approach is expected to benefit students, ITI trainees, contractual workers, government employees and industries seeking a skilled workforce.
A Step Towards Future Workforce Readiness
Haryana’s renewed skilling push comes at a time when states are increasingly focusing on employability, industrial competitiveness and workforce transformation.
By combining ITI modernisation, government employee upskilling, emerging technology courses and a data-backed skill-gap study, the state is positioning skill development as a major pillar of economic growth.
For Haryana, the focus is clear: prepare today’s workforce for tomorrow’s industries.
