UN Women to Train 15,000 Women in Digital Skills Under D4WEE Initiative Across Punjab & KP

In a significant step toward advancing digital inclusion and women’s economic participation, UN Women has launched the Digitalization for Women’s Economic Empowerment (D4WEE) initiative to provide market-driven digital skills training to 15,000 young women across selected districts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The large-scale initiative is designed to bridge the digital gender gap and create sustainable livelihood pathways for women through freelancing, employment, and entrepreneurship in Pakistan’s growing digital economy.
Bridging the Digital Gender Divide
The D4WEE program focuses on equipping women with high-demand digital competencies aligned with global and local market needs. Participants will receive training in:
  1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  2. Data Science
  3. Coding and Programming
  4. Graphic Design
  5. Animation
  6. Microsoft Office Applications
  7. Other emerging digital tools
The initiative aims to enhance women's participation in the tech-enabled workforce while enabling them to access remote work, online freelancing platforms, and digital entrepreneurship opportunities.
Districts Covered Under D4WEE
The program will initially be rolled out in the following districts:
Punjab
  1. Lahore
  2. Faisalabad
  3. Multan
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
  1. Peshawar
  2. Mardan
  3. Swabi
By targeting urban and semi-urban centers, the initiative seeks to create inclusive digital ecosystems that support women from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
Eligibility Criteria
Women aged 18 to 35 years are eligible to apply under three defined categories:
  1. 18–20 years: Intermediate pass students
  2. 21–25 years: University students (preferably from IT-related fields)
  3. 26–35 years: Graduates or women re-entering the workforce
The structured framework ensures that participants at different academic and career stages can benefit from customized learning pathways.
Training, Mentorship & Global Exposure
Selected candidates will receive:
  1. Structured classroom and practical training
  2. Mentorship from industry professionals
  3. Career guidance and placement support
  4. Opportunities for freelancing and entrepreneurship
Notably, high-performing participants may qualify for international exposure opportunities, including exchange visits to South Korea, further enhancing their global outlook and professional growth.
Application Process
Interested candidates can apply through the official online beneficiary identification form. The form will assess eligibility and align applicants with relevant training streams.
Applicants are encouraged to complete the form carefully to ensure proper evaluation and selection.
