Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Assistant / Technician Trainee
Job Summary:
The Electrical Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting senior technicians and electricians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and components. The role involves assisting with a wide range of tasks, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and data collection, while learning and developing technical skills on the job.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn and perform basic routine electrical preventive maintenance activities under supervision.
- Assist in disassembling, inspecting, cleaning, repairing, testing, and installing electrical motors, electromechanical devices, switches, contacts, controls, and other electrical components.
- Help in installing electrical conduits and pulling wires as per electrical layouts.
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing buried communication cables.
- Provide support in the repair, calibration, and troubleshooting of telemetry equipment and revenue power meters.
- Aid in the installation and maintenance of lighting systems, electrical outlets, and HVAC equipment.
- Learn to perform electrical troubleshooting and participate in new electrical installation tasks.
- Assist in collecting data and recording power meter readings as part of system monitoring.
- Support troubleshooting of advanced electrical systems including SCADA, HMI, and PLC systems.
- Help in rigging operations for transporting, removing, and installing motors and motor control systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors to support maintenance and operations teams.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and safety procedures
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Ability to work as part of a team and support skilled technicians
- Physical ability to perform manual work and lift equipment
- Good communication and observational skills
- Educational background in electrical trades preferred (e.g., ITI or relevant certification)
Work Environment:
- Indoor and outdoor environments, including workshops, control rooms, and field sites
- Exposure to electrical equipment, tools, and operational systems
- May involve working at heights or in confined spaces under supervision
