Fake email scam using the name of NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation)
🚨 Beware of Fake NSDC Emails Offering Data Entry Work
Fraud Alert: Fake Job Offers Circulating in the Name of NSDC
In recent days, training centers and individuals associated with India’s skilling ecosystem have reported receiving emails claiming to offer Data Entry Projects under the Skill India Mission, allegedly from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). These emails promise lucrative part-time job opportunities for students and monthly project budgets of up to ₹30 lakhs.
While these messages appear convincing at first glance, they are fake and potentially fraudulent.
🔍 How to Identify This Scam
Here is a real example of such a fake email (screenshot attached). Let’s break down the red flags:
- Fake Email Domain:
- The sender appears as “National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)” with the email domain: nsdclndia.org
- The domain uses the letter ‘l’ (lowercase L) in nsdclndia, which looks like a capital ‘I’, attempting to mimic nsdcindia.org — the official domain of NSDC.
- Important Fact: Domain names are case-insensitive and always lowercase. Capitalization doesn't exist in domain-level identifiers, so this is a clear spoof.
- Use of Free Email Providers:
- NSDC, being a government-affiliated body, communicates via official domains like @nsdcindia.org, not free email providers like Gmail.
- Unrealistic Offers:
- Promises of ₹30 lakh monthly project budgets and easy data entry projects are classic red flags of a scam.
- Legitimate projects require formal onboarding, MoUs, and compliance with schemes like PMKVY or DDU-GKY — not email-based approvals.
🎯 What Is the Scam Trying to Do?
Such fake emails may:
- Collect personal and institutional details (phishing)
- Ask for registration fees or deposits to “secure the project”
- Use your name or institute’s identity for further fraud
- Redirect you to shady websites or attachments containing malware
✅ How to Stay Safe
- Always verify the sender domain:
- Genuine NSDC emails come from @nsdcindia.org only.
- Contact NSDC directly:
- When in doubt, verify through official channels: www.nsdcindia.org
- Report suspicious emails:
- Email NSDC at: grievance@nsdcindia.org
- You can also report phishing to cybercrime.gov.in
- Do not share personal or training center details with unknown Gmail IDs.
🚫 Final Word
Scammers are misusing the name of NSDC and the Skill India Mission to exploit the ambitions of training providers and students. Always be alert, double-check email domains, and never engage with unofficial communication for project approvals or government work.
