Arunachal Pradesh Releases Final Post-Matric Scholarship Installment for Over 21,500 Students

In a significant boost to higher education and student welfare, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, through the Directorate of Higher & Technical Education, has successfully released the second and final installment of the Post-Matric Scholarship for the academic year 2025–26. The scholarship amount has been disbursed through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, ensuring faster and more transparent transfer of funds directly into students' bank accounts.

According to an official press note issued on 10 July 2026, approximately 21,500 students across Arunachal Pradesh have benefited from the latest scholarship release. The initiative aims to reduce financial barriers and support students pursuing higher education after Class 10.

₹51.83 Crore Released by Ministry of Tribal Affairs

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, released ₹5,183 lakh (₹51.83 crore) as the second and final installment of the scholarship. Following the release of the Central Government's share and the State Government's matching contribution, the Directorate of Higher & Technical Education initiated the disbursement process immediately.

Students have already started receiving the scholarship amount in their registered bank accounts through the DBT mechanism, minimizing delays and improving financial transparency.

Over 1,650 Students Need to Rectify Bank or Aadhaar Issues

While the majority of beneficiaries have successfully received the scholarship, the department has identified more than 1,650 students whose scholarship payments could not be processed due to:

  1. Incorrect bank account details
  2. Aadhaar-related discrepancies
  3. Other banking verification issues

The Directorate has urged all affected students to promptly verify and correct their records to avoid further delays in receiving the scholarship.

Students can check their application status and discrepancy details through the official Directorate portal.

Department Appeals for Immediate Action

Education authorities have advised affected students to rectify their banking or Aadhaar-related issues at the earliest so that the pending scholarship amount can be released without additional delays.

The Directorate emphasized that timely correction of these issues will help ensure that every eligible student receives the financial assistance intended under the scholarship scheme.

Why Post-Matric Scholarships Matter

Post-Matric Scholarships play a crucial role in promoting equitable access to higher education, particularly for students belonging to Scheduled Tribes and other eligible categories. These scholarships help cover expenses such as:

  1. Tuition fees
  2. Maintenance allowance
  3. Hostel charges
  4. Books and study materials
  5. Other educational expenses

For many students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, these scholarships serve as a critical source of financial support, helping reduce dropout rates and encouraging continued participation in higher education.

SkillCouncils.com Perspective

The timely release of scholarships reflects the growing emphasis on inclusive education, digital governance, and financial inclusion. Direct Benefit Transfer has significantly improved transparency and accountability in scholarship delivery, ensuring that educational assistance reaches deserving students without intermediary delays.

However, the identification of over 1,650 pending cases due to Aadhaar and banking issues also highlights the need for greater digital awareness among students and educational institutions. Strengthening documentation support, financial literacy, and digital onboarding can further improve scholarship coverage and ensure that no eligible student is left behind.

As India continues to strengthen its education and skill development ecosystem, efficient implementation of scholarship schemes remains a key pillar in enabling youth to pursue higher education and develop industry-relevant skills.
